The owner, Cindy Shaw, is a licensed esthetician and has been working in the beauty industry since 1995 when she became an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Cindy earned a BS in Animal Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1992 and worked as a veterinary technician and research assistant prior to completing the esthetics program at The Salon Professional Academy in Iowa City in 2010. Renewal Skin & Body Center opened to clients June 1, 2011.
Cindy has the distinction of being certified with the "Dermalogica Expert Status" by the International Dermal Institute after completing nearly 100 hours of postgraduate education. Cindy values continuing her education and regularly takes classes on various esthetic and business topics such as skin conditions, eyelash services, makeup trends, and marketing. Lash Savvy is the company that trained and certified Cindy to apply individual eyelash extensions in 2015. In 2018, Cindy became certified to use the bt-micro device by BioTherapeutics. In 2019, Cindy earned the Glo Expert Studio Beauty Certification and Jane Iredale Level One Brand Certification.
It might surprise you to know that Cindy is an Iowa native, avid horse lover, enjoys singing gospel music, and trained in TaeKwon Do (2nd degree black belt). Her other titles include wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt.

I’m thrilled to join the Renewal team as a newly licensed esthetician! I graduated from Capri College in Cedar Rapids, IA, in September 2024, where I completed an extended 750-hour program that allowed me to develop a deep understanding of skincare and beauty.
During my time at Capri, I worked exclusively with Dermalogica products, and I’m excited to bring my experience with this exceptional line to my clients here at Renewal. I’m passionate about providing top-notch services, including waxing, brows, lashes, and facials, and I take pride in helping others feel confident and radiant.
I’m eager to continue growing in this ever-evolving industry and look forward to creating a welcoming and personalized experience for each client.
